Fresh, Structured & Soulful - An Organic Monastrell from Jumilla
El Sentido de la Vida is a deeply expressive red from Jumilla, crafted by Bodega Cerrón.
Sourced from some of the coolest, north-facing, limestone-rich parcels around Fuente-Álamo, this wine reflects a more austere and floral profile, with tension, depth, and remarkable ageing potential.
A tribute to family heritage and the generations who have worked the land, it is both a heartfelt and terroir-driven expression of Monastrell.
Winemaking
- The grapes are sourced from old vineyards located at 800–850 metres altitude, planted on limestone soils and farmed organically without chemical treatments.
- The vineyards benefit from strong diurnal temperature variation, helping to preserve freshness and balance despite the warm Mediterranean climate.
- Harvest is carried out manually at optimal ripeness, with very low yields to ensure concentration and quality.
- In the winery, the grapes undergo cold maceration followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in clay amphorae and open barrels.
- The wine is then aged for 16 months in clay vessels and French oak foudres, followed by an additional 8 months in bottle before release - enhancing complexity, integration, and texture.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep ruby with bright, vivid reflections.
- Aromas: Fresh red fruits such as strawberry and cherry, layered with Mediterranean herbs, floral notes, and subtle hints of spice and sweet pepper.
- Palate: Structured yet fluid, with fine tannins and vibrant freshness. A balance of fruit, minerality, and tension leads to a long, elegant finish with excellent ageing potential.
