Under the label Piotr K, the winery introduces one of its most personal creations as a concept wine, with a limited production. This white wine is dedicated to showcasing the full potential of the 100% Loureira grape, offering a bouquet of white flowers, chamomile, dairy hints, citrus tones, and subtle hay notes.
Situated in the parish of Puga in the Ribeiro DO region, the "As Tapadas" estate spans three hectares facing south, cultivating Treixadura, Godello, and Loureira vines on schist and clay soil. With an average altitude of 280 metres, this estate boasts a medium-high elevation for the Ribeiro area.
In the vineyard, organic herbicides and insecticides are avoided, opting for phytosanitary products certified for organic agriculture. The 2021 harvest maintained good quality grapes despite low rainfall and warm conditions until mid-June. However, some fungal challenges from spring to late summer complicated the ripening phase.
Piotr K underwent a two-day cold maceration, followed by gentle pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts at 15ºC in stainless steel tanks. In January and February, the fine lees were stirred, and the wine was returned to the stainless steel tank. Minimal sulphites were used, and the wine underwent no artificial clarification, filtration, or other corrections.
This vinification aims to explore the potential of the Loureira grape, typically used in smaller proportions as an aromatic element in Ribeiro wines.
Piotr K represents a range that is characterized by small-scale production and a concept wine associated with collaborative and supportive projects. This concept is inspired by the agrarian anarchist theorist Piotr Kropotkin, in whose honour these wines are named.
