The Malvasia de Banyalbufar comes from Olorón's own farm, "SA Teuleretta", a one hectare plot in the Serra de Tramuntana valley, 250m above sea level.  This is a low producing varietal that is prone to disease.  It was practically extinct until its recovery at the UIB.  Olorón's Malvasia is the original Clone.


The 2019 vintage saw little rainfall, and high, constant temperatures during the spring and summer seasons.


The grapes were harvested by hand in boxes of 12 kilos during the first fortnight of September.  They were de-stemmed and with the skins, they went into a 500 litre stainless steel tank, where spontaneous fermentation occurred.  The skins were then strained and the liquid was aged in a new, 500 litre French oak barrel, from the “Segui Moreau” cooperative. 


The wine has an amber (old gold) colour, similar to apple juice.

Aromas of orange blossom prevail.

To taste, the wine has a powerful, spicy, and crisp acidity as it passes through the mouth.  The persistence is maintained due to its salinity.  Notes of ripe pineapple, kumquat and frosted ginger flavours are dominant.

Serve this wine at 12ºC.  This wine pairs well with seafood pasta and rice, stews, duck, cured cheeses, almond gató, and almond ice cream.
